Strengthening Primary Healthcare Teams through Skill Augmentation and Mentoring (SATHI)
The Government of Gujarat has approved the state-wide scale-up of the SATHI (Skill Augmentation and Team Building for Health Improvement) Mentoring Initiative under the National Health Mission (NHM). This approval formalizes SATHI as a structured, state-level program aimed at strengthening primary health care teams delivering Comprehensive Primary Healthcare (CPHC) services at Sub-center Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (SC-AAMs) across Gujarat.
Designed to support primary health care teams at Sub-Centre Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (SC-AAMs), SATHI focuses on strengthening clinical competencies alongside the soft skills required for effective teamwork in Comprehensive Primary Healthcare (CPHC) delivery.
SATHI Scale-Up: Vision and Design
Under the scale-up, the Government of Gujarat has retained the SATHI identity while expanding its scope and reach.

- 6 comprehensive modules covering 54 essential clinical skills
- Equal emphasis on soft skills and clinical competence
- Statewide implementation across all 34 districts of Gujarat
- Integration with NHM systems, including TeCHO+
- Strong monitoring, mentoring, and documentation framework
- The scale-up follows a cascade training and mentoring model, ensuring quality, consistency, and sustainability.

- The quality of implementation of the initiative will be regularly monitored through cross-district monitoring visits by the master trainers and the regional trainers from the same regions.
