The District Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC) strengthening workshop was organised on 7th October, in Tura, to enhance participants’ understanding of CPHC and its core principles by promoting a uniform district-wide perspective to trace the evolution of primary health care and highlight the need for a comprehensive approach.

Jhpiego, under the IPSI initiative, organized a district-level orientation workshop at the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Fatehpur on 26th June 2025.
A cross-learning visit was organized for the Meghalaya Health Department team and Indian Institute of Public Health- Shillong (IIPHS) to Bhavnagar, Gujarat, from July 14-16 July 2025. The purpose of the visit was for the Meghalaya team to observe the SATHI Mentoring Program currently being implemented at the Sub-Health Centre (HWC) level and draw insights into the Coaching pilot being planned at the PHC level in Meghalaya.
A three-day training on the Health and Wellness Centre (HWC) Facility Survey was conducted in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya, from 22 to 24 July 2025 under the India Primary Health Care Support Initiative (IPSI).
Multidisciplinary teams of health workers working together is associated with comprehensive and integrated primary health care (PHC) services. Responding to a wide range of community health needs requires a diverse skill mix among PHC workers. Exemplar PHC delivery models from countries like Brazil, Thailand and Costa Rica incorporate multidisciplinary teams which work as a unit to provide PHC services. Further, global health agencies like the World Health Organization (WHO) emphasize the importance of health worker teams to deliver services.
In the Ayushman Arogya Mandir program (AAM; formerly known as Health and Wellness Centres), primary health care facilities are mandated to deliver 12 service packages that together provides comprehensive health services to communities. Evaluating service readiness of health facilities to deliver these packages provides insights into their functional status and helps identify areas for improvement. In this note, we discuss findings from a service readiness assessment of AAMs in Kalahandi district of Odisha (Figure 1).

The Indian Primary Healthcare Support Initiative, aimed to strengthen and support the State Government’s Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Initiative through the Ayushman Bharat- Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWC)and a collaborative effort involving Johns Hopkins University, USA, AIIMS New Delhi, Institute of Public Health, Shillong and Government of Meghalaya had a productive meeting on 3rd of June 2025 at the NHM conference hall in Shillong.
The Indian Primary Healthcare Support Initiative project in collaboration involving Johns Hopkins University, USA, AIIMS New Delhi, Institute of Public Health, Shillong and Government of Meghalaya, convened a key meeting with the West Garo Hills District Health officials on 5th of June 2025 at Tura, West Garo Hills to discuss the next phase of healthcare interventions in the District.
A state-level stakeholder meeting was held on 16th April 2025 at Bhubaneswar under the chairpersonship of Dr. D. Brundha, Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM) to discuss ongoing efforts and future strategies for strengthening primary health care at Kalahandi, Odisha under the IPSI project.
