Cross-learning visit to Sundegrah, Odisha

April 28-30, 2024

A three-day exposure visit for Kalahandi district team was held on April 28-30 to the Sundergarh district.

Among the participants from Kalahandi district, the 14 primary healthcare staff chosen from the 11 HWCs across 7 blocks represented a diverse range of roles and responsibilities within the primary healthcare system. These staff members included CHOs and ANMs. The participants were chosen based on the District Assistant Quality Manager’s recommendations, following discussions with the District Program Manager, and reflecting their willingness to improve primary healthcare quality.

Prior to the planned exposure visit, a survey was conducted to understand the expectations and specific interests of the participants regarding the quality aspects they hoped to explore during the visit. The best performing HWCs in Sundargarh were identified with the assistance of the Assistant Quality Manager of Sundargarh to ensure a fruitful visit. Each day, the teams visited 2-3 HWCs followed by a briefing session in the evening to discuss the best practices and their implications for work at Kalahandi.

Following the conclusion of the visit, a survey was undertaken to assess the participants’ learning and insights gained during the visit. Key takeaways from Sundergarh were as follows-
