The District Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC) Strengthening Workshop was conducted in Tura from 12–14 November 2025 with the objective of strengthening participants’ understanding of CPHC and its core principles. The workshop aimed to foster a shared, district-wide perspective on primary health care, enabling participants to trace its evolution and appreciate the importance of a comprehensive and integrated approach.
The three-day workshop was led by Dr. Jimrich A. Marak, Senior Medical & Health Officer, Government of Meghalaya alongside the IIPH Shillong Project team. The workshop provided an in-depth orientation to CPHC through key thematic modules, including community engagement within CPHC, use of data for decision-making, digitalization, and essential public health functions.
The workshop was attended by 23 participants each day, with module lessons structured to cater to different cadres across the three days. The first day was dedicated to MLHPs. The second day included Medical Officers, Community Health Organizers, Lady Health Visitors, and Health Assistants. The third day was attended by Medical Officers, the District Program Manager, Block Program Managers, Health Educators, Public Health Nurses, and Sanitary Inspectors. Participants demonstrated an improved understanding of participatory approaches, data-driven planning, and system-level public health functions, reflecting the workshop’s effectiveness in strengthening capacities for comprehensive primary health care at the district level.
