Kalahandi district is one of the most socioeconomically backward and vulnerable districts of India known for its poverty, disease, and malnutrition. This district is located in the state of Odisha situated in the Eastern part of the country. The district is dominated by the tribal population which contributes nearly 29% of the total population. Due to its interior location, the population residing in different blocks of the district does not have access to the necessary amenities. Healthcare disparities exist among the blocks of the district. On the basis of Administration, Kalahandi District has been divided into 2 Sub-Divisions named Bhawanipatna and, Dharmagarh. As per the Blocks are concerned the district is divided into 13 Blocks. The district has 247 HWCs to date.
