To support the entire team of service providers at a Sub-Health Centre (SHC), a team mentoring pilot has been proposed. The objective is to ultimately improve service coverage and quality of the 12 packages of services being provided at the SHCs. The team at sub-health centre level comprises of a community health officer, auxiliary nurse midwife, multi-purpose workers and community health workers. To strengthen competencies such as leadership, accountability, communication, conflict resolution etc., a 12-month long team-based mentoring program is developed. The implementation will be via a district level government institution such as the Govt Nursing College, Govt Medical College, Govt District level hospital.
In Bhavnagar (Gujarat), the pilot is planned in collaboration with Government Nursing College, Bhavnagar and the support from District health department. Phase 1 of the intervention pilot would begin later this year.
