Ankita is a social epidemiologist, currently working as a Consultant- Comprehensive Primary Health Care and Community Processes at State Health Systems Resource Centre Gujarat. She has done her graduation in Homoeopathic Medicine from Bhavnagar University, Gujarat. She pursued her post-graduation in Public Health with specialization in Social Epidemiology from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai; and Ph.D. in Social Epidemiology from Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. Ankita’s core expertise is in exploring and addressing influence of social factors at multiple levels on health of populations. Her research interests are health and nutrition promotion across life-course, especially through addressing societal determinants of health at multiple levels. She is skilled at designing and executing contextually situated intervention and evaluation projects aimed at enhancement of social equity in health. She has worked as Medical Officer at Urban Health Centre in Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation, Gujarat, during which she additionally served as I/C Epidemic Medical Officer. Later she worked with Deepak Foundation, Vadodara, Gujarat, as Clinical Services Co-ordinator. She has also worked as a Consultant- Research Associate with Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar. Collectively, her diverse work experience includes research, as well as design and implementation of projects and programs aimed at enhancing health and nutrition of socio-economically disadvantaged population across urban, rural and tribal areas.
