The second round of the Capacity Building Programme “Using Data for Managers in Health” was conducted from 3rd to 6th June 2026 at Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi, under the India Primary Health Care Support Initiative (IPSI). The programme was organized in collaboration with AIIMS Bhubaneswar, AIIMS New Delhi, Johns Hopkins University, and the National Health Mission, Odisha, with implementation support from the Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer, NHM, Kalahandi.
Building on the first cohort, this round aimed to further strengthen the capacity of district and block-level health programme managers to use routine health data for evidence-based planning, monitoring, decision-making, and programme improvement. The training brought together 25 participants, including District Programme Managers, Block Programme Managers, Block Data Managers, Epidemiologists, Quality Assurance Managers, and personnel from RCH, RBSK, and IEC/BCC across Kalahandi district.
The programme combined classroom sessions, practical exercises, group assignments, and field-based discussions. Participants were introduced to concepts of data quality, data visualization, interpretation of routine health information, and performance monitoring, with emphasis on translating routinely collected programme data into actionable insights for improving service delivery and health outcomes.
The course is a key component of IPSI’s efforts to institutionalize data-informed decision-making within the public health system. Through continuous mentoring and practical application, the programme aims to equip health managers with the skills required to use data effectively in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of health programmes.
