The National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification is an important government initiative to improve and maintain quality standards at public sector health facilities in India.
IPSI aims to provide technical support to the Government of India’s Ayushman Bharat- Health and Wellness Center (HWC) program to improve coverage and quality of health services through evidence-based health systems strengthening.
IIPH- Shillong organized an NQAS training for its staff and IPSI district team on 10-12 June 2024 in Shillong, Meghalaya. The training was conducted by Dr. Ayan Roy, a national level NQAS assessor and expert.
IPSI project is providing support to the demonstration districts for improving NQAS certification. One of the strategies adopted for this includes cross-learning visits to other districts that have performed well in NQAS certification.
The Government of India launched the Ayushman Bharat (AB) scheme with a strategic focus on Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC). The delivery of high-quality primary health care services requires health facility staff to possess specific primary care and public health competencies. To identify current and future training needs we undertook a training needs assessment among primary healthcare providers in the states of Gujarat, Meghalaya and Odisha.
